First Woman Lawyer in America

Lying Judges and Lawyers

In 1638, one hundred and thirty eight years before the American Revolution, the first woman lawyer in America, Margaret Brent, arrived in the colonies. Brent left a castle in England to brave the hardships of Maryland. She brought nine colonists with her. Brent was given a great deal of land and to get more workers and more land she went all the way back to England to get more people.

Margaret Brent, some women's lawyer historians say, was a master negotiator, an accomplished litigator, and a respected leader. Born to an upper-middle class family in England, Brent was Cecil Calvert's cousin. Shortly after settling in St. Mary's Parish, Maryland, Brent amassed some of the largest real estate holdings in the New World, and became the appointed counsel to the governor.

The Commission on Women in the Profession recognizes this unsung heroine by naming one of the nation's highest honors for women lawyers, The Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Awards, in her honor, and by forming its new membership entity, The Margaret Brent League, in her name.

The women lawyer of the American Bar Association are making outlandish claims in an attempt to rewrite history and do not know the true implications of their actions. The early lawyers, were few and far between and were known as Tories. A Tory was an American who, during the period of the American Revolution, favored the English King's position of oppression.

After studying Brent's background it is easy to see that she was a Tory. The King of England granted Brent large real estate holdings in the New World. Brent was the appointed counsel to the Governor of Maryland. The Governor of Maryland was appointed by the King of England and therefore appointed his legislature and so-called public servants.

Women's lawyer historians claim, that Brent lead the fight for women's voting rights. For whom did Brent want to vote? The King of England and Governor of Maryland appointed everybody. No one had the right to vote - Brent lived 138 years BEFORE the Constitution. By praising and revering a woman like Margaret Brent, are women lawyers saying that they are loyal to the oppressive King of England?

Do the women lawyers of the American Bar Association support the legal doctrines and practices that were declared unacceptable by the Declaration of Independence? The answer is obvious and undeniable. Lawyering is the only legal monopoly in America, a state of affairs intimately familiar to Colonial America under the King of England's rule.
