I was on vacation with my daughter at the time Clinton gave his remarks to the National Governor's Association (on July 28, 1997). If anyone else missed this and would like to read it, I've put it up at:

I have no problem with paying child support for my daughter (even though her mother has lived off of everyone and everything throughout her entire life). What I do have a problem with is Clinton's policy of collecting child support in the manner he does it even from those (such as myself) who have never once been late. I had my salary garnished for 13 months beginning on October 1, 1995 and lasting until and including October 1, 1996 even though I had "never" been even one day late in paying $537 per month in child support and even though it was stipulated (when the Judge ordered the child support in 1992) that my salary would never be attached as long as I was never late. It just goes to show that when making deals with the devil, you can't trust anything they say, even when it's signed by the judge.

I contacted my State Senator Jack O'Connell about this
five months before it was instituted. It took 18 months but
he finally had his staff, act in my behalf and the garnishment
was removed. However, I still have to pay the DA-Family Support Division which I equally and strenuously object to because I don't want the damn government in my life. For the government to think it has to intercede is humiliating and a complete insult to me as a responsible father.

What really bugs me about Clinton's remarks is that he says nothing about doing anything to promote fathers involvement in their families or to end the unbelievable discrimination that exists against fathers in every facet of our society. I voted for Clinton twice so I partially blame myself. He's just like any other damn politician.

Child support issues are not the primary goal so this is just griping,
I suppose. The main focus for me is equal time with Becky.
