Florida Trip Two-Fine Day for Motorist

American Injustice - Lying Judges and Lawyers

Red alert - and we do mean red - to all Florida-bound travelers: Bobbye Weaver of Cahaba Heights, Alabama has a sad story to tell.

She and her husband were traveling Alabama 109 to Panama City last weekend before they drove into Graceville, Florida, and were stopped for speeding in a school zone.

She said she didn't take issue with the speeding: they were going 57 mph, though the school was upon a hill and there were no caution lights flashing. But their ticket was $520 because they were in a "red flag" zone. It seems a red handkerchief was tied to the school zone sign, which meant their ticket would cost double the $229.50 for the number of miles per hour they were traveling over 30.

The Weavers paid the ticket. "And for someone who hasn't even had a parking meter violation in 14 years, it was a shock" she said. The warn other motorists that the red flags can be anywhere - schools, construction sites, etc., and may not be readily visible.
