As an average person that had no experience with the justice system of Indiana, I witnessed the most horrible act of injustice this year.

My fiancee' had a very bad break up with his ex-spouse. Over the course of two years after they were divorced, she and her daughter (13 years old) convinced a deputy, social worker, extreme feminist prosecutor, judge and jury that 5 years earlier he had sexually molested his daughter.

Because neither of us had any experience with what to do, we unknowingly hired the public defender and paid him $10K. When he was told the story, he laughed and said not to worry about this, he convinced us that this was nothing to fear, and the courts would see this was clearly a story made up by an ex-spouse with a vengeance.

The defense attorney did nothing to prepare for the trial. But he told my fiancee' he could not testify due to some 'arrangement' he had made with the judge in regards to a pre-trial hearing. He did not object to any of the things said when the ex and daughter said things that contradicted each other.

By remaining silent he just let the prosecutor run the character of my fiancee' to the ground, and by the time the last argument was heard, if I did not know the truth, I would have thought my fiancee' was an evil child sex crazed offender! It took the jury only two hours to find him guilty.

The court room behavior was a total joke. The judge, prosecutor, and the defense got into a discussion about a 'smoke break' and were making jokes right before the closing arguments.

Our community was so low on jurors, the prosecutor asked jurors who said they could not be impartial to 'just this once can't you put those feelings to the side'. But this sad story does not stop there.

We were so outraged by all the rights that were violated (rights as in what I found by reading the Constitution), we hired a 'top - dog' attorney to assist with going to the sentencing and to help with an appeal. This 'top - dog' attorney charged my fiancee's family $5K (my fiancee' had to rely on his family because he became a pauper during the course of this event after he got fired from his job which caused him to file bankruptcy and move in with his parents in order to pay every dime he made at a poor paying job he found to his 'defense attorney')to go to sentencing, file the appeal, and then seven month later tell my fiancee' that his chances of getting an appeal are 'just pretty slim to none', and that if he files for the appeal the trial judge will be so upset, that if he does not get his appeal he can forget about getting any kind of sentence reduction from the judge at a later date.

Now this is the same 'hot - shot' attorney that when hired said she could see at least 4 to 5 things to appeal on! She now says that none of the 'appeal' items are relevant. His only hope is to prove his defense attorney violated his right to testify at the trial.

So, for another $4K she'll take the defense attorney to court (even though he will lie about it and say he never told my fiancee' he could not testify)and have that 'hearing' submitted to the appeals court!

She has decided that in the best interest of my fiancee' she should just turn the case over to a 'public defender' in another county! That way it won't cost anything and maybe the public defender can get a mistrial!!!

This entire situation is worse than a 'bigger than life' weekly movie! If anyone thinks that there is justice in the US court systems, they need to be prepared for real life if they ever get into the court system's hands!

Don't find out the hard way by 'trusting' you are innocent until found guilty. That is NOT the truth. You are guilty until you can get an attorney that can make you be seen as not guilty! You may use my fiancee as an identification....T. Thompson. We know that we will never see justice in this life. The only small comfort is that we do believe that there is a life after this one where God will judge evil, not only in our case, but the hundreds of thousands of people that I am convinced have suffered injustly at the hands of our 'Justice System'!!!

Though we have no hope, I thank you so much for allowing me to vent this to someone. I am still in a daze, not yet comprehending the harsh reality that our justice system no longer works! Did it ever, I wonder?
