Birmingham Bar Association backs Riley's plan
The Birmingham Bar Association's executive committee recently adopted a resolution supporting Gov. Bob Riley's
tax and accountability plan. That's reason enough for me to vote against Riley's tax plan. The Birmingham Bar Association
has 3,600 members. To be sure, lawyers will line their pockets with much of the tax increase.
"The committee is of the opinion that this plan presents an opportunity for Alabama to reverse the long-term
inadequacies which have led to the current financial situation of the state and that it represents a sound investment
in Alabama's future," reads the group's statement.
