Fathers are not ``DOGS!''
Children need FATHERS, not wallets!

There is a war waging in Alabama today. The war was declared by the Alabama Legislature last year and is being conducted by none other than Governor Don Siegelman and Alabama's Department of Human Resources.

Siegelman's Lost Dogs

The Governor and DHR, representing the "executive" branch of our state government, are spending $90,000 of YOUR tax dollars in an attempt to brand certain fathers, on highly questionable grounds, with the Scarlet Letter of "Lost Dogs."

Loving Fathers are now "Dogs"?

Lost "DOGS"? Dogs? Fathers are now "dogs" in the eyes of our Governor? If a similar label were applied to, say, the tens of thousands of divorced or never-married Alabama mothers who routinely, wilfully and often maliciously interfere with the father-child relationship, the cries of "injustice, bias, prejudice and discrimination" would be heard around the planet.

But fathers are fair game in this witch hunt. And their children, the ostensible beneficiaries of the government-sponsored holy war against fathers, are really nowhere to be found.

In "family law" courts, fathers are routinely removed from any meaningful role in their childrens' lives on no legally defensible grounds. Now, thanks to the Alabama Legislature, and Governor Siegelman's recent Declaration of War against many of them, fathers are now also Alabama's latest most hated group of citizens -- for no reason, in most cases, other than that they can't afford to support two households.

The "double whammy" of child support: Fathers lose their children against their will at the hands of the court, then are unconstitutionally jailed for "debt."

Fathers are thereby saddled with the burden of supporting not only their own household, and their children when they do have them, but the mother's household, as well.

This institutionalized vilification of fathers in non-intact families, Alabama's Lost Dogs ad campaign, if aimed at any other identifiable class of citizens -- such as, for example, mothers -- would raise an instantaneous hue and cry from every corner of the nation about the oppressive and draconian tactics of a state machinery run amok.

But when it comes to fathers, we turn a blind eye and just say OK!
Well, it's not OK!
Children need FATHERS, not wallets!
